Ohia as the new Vice President of Academic Affairs and Provost President John M. Rudley, announced, July 1, 2008. that Dr. Ohia will join the TSU administration this September, in time for the fall 2008 semester. Dr. Ohia, is currently the dean of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Houston, and has 16 years of academic leadership experience. He served the last five and a half years at UH. Dr. Ohia is also one of the founding Board members of AABS, Inc, and has been relected to the Board from July 1, 2008. On behalf of the Board of Trustees and Members of AABS, we wholeheartedly congratulate Dr. Ohia, and wish him a successful tenure at Texas Southern University. A three-day summit of the 53-member African Union (AU) that ended in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on 30 January 2007, generated some "sparks" about the need to invigorate and develop strategies that gear towards changes in scientific policy on the continent of Africa. The meeting was driven by the AU's science team, headed by Nagia Essayed, and the head of her secretariat, Botlhale Tema. Major achievemts of the deliberations include- plans for three new funding agencies; an Africa-wide system of intellectual-property protection; and a 20-year strategy for biotechnology. Kellen Cancer Vaccine Collaborative Clinical Investigator. Dr. Odunsi

Houston College of Pharmacy Dr. Ohia is currently associate dean for administration for the Creighton University School of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions. Before becoming associate dean at Creighton, Ohia served as professor and chairman in the department of Pharmaceutical and Administrative Sciences at that university. Sunny Ohia is one of the founding members of AABS, Inc. He has been a member of the Board of Trustees and its Executive Secretary, since it inception. We wish Dean Ohia a successful term and wold like him to know that we are honored to have him as a member of our "family". Congratulations! Dean Ohia.
